Daily Gospel Reading: Mt 28:16-20

Today’s Gospel reading is known as the Great Commission, where Jesus gives His final instructions to the eleven disciples on a mountain in Galilee. This passage is profound, as it contains Jesus’ call to spread His teachings and the promise of His everlasting presence.

1. The Authority of Jesus:

Jesus begins by declaring, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.” This statement affirms His divine authority and the power given to Him by God the Father. It reassures us that Jesus is Lord over all creation, and His teachings carry the ultimate authority. We can trust and rely on His words and guidance in every aspect of our lives.

2. The Great Commission:

Jesus commands His disciples, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.” This directive is not only for the eleven disciples but for all of us who follow Jesus. We are called to share the Good News, bring others to faith, and teach them to live according to Jesus’ teachings. This mission emphasizes the importance of spreading love, hope, and the message of salvation to everyone we encounter.

3. The Promise of Jesus’ Presence:

Jesus concludes with a powerful promise, “And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” This assurance of His constant presence gives us strength and comfort. No matter where we are or what we face, Jesus is with us, guiding and supporting us. This promise encourages us to be bold in our mission, knowing we are never alone.

A Heartfelt Prayer:

Let us pray together: Dear Jesus, thank You for Your divine authority and the mission You have entrusted to us. Help us to share Your love and teachings with others, bringing them to faith in You. May we always remember Your promise to be with us, giving us strength and courage in our journey. Amen.

Conclusion:

In summary, the Gospel of Matthew 28:16-20 teaches us about Jesus’ divine authority, our mission to make disciples and share His teachings, and the comforting promise of His eternal presence. Let these lessons inspire us to live boldly, spreading love and hope, and trusting in Jesus’ guidance every step of the way.

May God bless you all, and may His love guide you in every step you take.

Amen.
