His efforts transformed communities, leading many to repentance and a more devout life.
In 1628, Regis began his theological studies at Toulouse, excelling despite his efforts to remain humble and avoid applause. He was ordained in 1630, celebrating his first Mass with extraordinary devotion. His zeal led him to volunteer during a plague in Toulouse, serving the sick and dying with tireless dedication.
Apostolic Labors
For the last ten years of his life, Regis was dedicated to missions in Languedoc, Vivarez, and Velay. He preached and catechized tirelessly, often walking barefoot through harsh weather to reach remote villages. His sermons were delivered with such fervor that they moved audiences to tears and led to widespread conversions. He was particularly dedicated to the poor, often begging for their needs and serving them personally.
Regis faced opposition and persecution, including from his own brethren, but his humility and steadfastness won him many supporters. His work in the rough regions of Vivarez and Velay transformed these areas, bringing many back to the faith.
