Gospel Reflection for: July 17, 2024
Daily Gospel Reading: Matthew 11:25-27
In this Bible passage, Jesus talks about how God reveals his special wisdom to those who are humble and open-minded, like little children. It’s not about being smart or knowing a lot of things, but about having a simple trust in God.
Open Your Heart:
Jesus thanks God for revealing his truth to those who are like “little children.” This doesn’t mean acting childish, but it means coming to God with a simple, trusting heart, like a child who trusts their parents completely.
Think about how a child learns new things. They’re curious, they ask questions, and they trust their parents to guide them. In the same way, we can approach God with that same curiosity and trust. We can ask him questions, read the Bible to learn more about him, and trust that he will lead us in the right direction.
Jesus is the Way:
Jesus says that no one truly knows God except for him. This means that if we want to know God better, we need to get to know Jesus. It’s like wanting to know a famous musician – you can learn about them by listening to their music and reading about their life. In the same way, we can learn about God by reading the Bible and getting to know Jesus.
Jesus also says that he can reveal God to anyone he wants. This is good news for us! It means that anyone can have a relationship with God, no matter who they are or what they’ve done. It’s like a door that’s open to everyone who wants to come in.
Building a Friendship with Jesus:
But how do we get to know Jesus? It’s all about building a relationship with him. It’s like making a new friend. You spend time with them, talk to them, and learn about their interests. In the same way, we can get to know Jesus by reading the Bible, praying to him, and talking about him with other Christians.
When we build a strong friendship with Jesus, we start to see the world through his eyes. We become more loving, compassionate, and forgiving. We start to make better choices and live a life that pleases God.
A Prayer for Humility and Understanding:
Dear God,
Thank you for revealing yourself to us through Jesus. Help us to approach you with humble hearts, like little children. Teach us to trust you and to follow your ways. May our lives be a reflection of your love and grace.
Amen.
Conclusion: Knowing God Better
This story teaches us that knowing God is not about being smart or having all the answers. It’s about having a humble and open heart, like a child. It’s about building a relationship with Jesus, who can reveal God to us in a deeper way. By seeking God with a simple and trusting heart, we can experience the fullness of his love and wisdom in our lives.
May God bless you all, and may His love guide you in every step you take.
Amen.
