Born in Spain, St. Valentine Berrio-Ochoa’s journey led him far from home, to the distant shores of Vietnam. He embraced Dominican life, dedicating himself to serving God and spreading the Gospel message. His missionary zeal and unwavering faith would ultimately lead him to a martyr’s death.

A Shepherd in a Foreign Land:

Valentine arrived in Vietnam during a time of political and religious unrest. He served as a vicar apostolic and bishop, providing spiritual guidance and support to the local community. His presence brought comfort and hope to those facing persecution for their beliefs.

Betrayal and Steadfast Faith:

Despite the dangers, Valentine remained committed to his mission. Even when betrayed and arrested, he refused to renounce his faith. His courage in the face of adversity serves as an inspiration to all who strive to live their faith with conviction, even when faced with opposition.

A Martyr’s Crown:

Valentine’s unwavering dedication to Christ ultimately led to his martyrdom. He was beheaded alongside his companions, St. Jerome Hermosilla and Blessed Peter Amato, their sacrifice a testament to their unwavering faith and love for the Gospel.
