Daily Gospel Reading: John 6:37-40 NRSVCE

In John 6:37-40, Jesus offers words of comfort and assurance. He says that anyone who comes to him will never be driven away. It’s like a warm invitation to a safe haven, a place where you’re always welcome, no matter what. This passage is full of promises that remind us of God’s unwavering love and the security we find in his embrace.

1. Always Welcome

Imagine a friend’s house where you feel completely at ease, where you can be yourself without fear of judgment. That’s the kind of welcome Jesus offers us. He doesn’t care about our past mistakes, our imperfections, or our messy lives. He simply invites us to come as we are.

  • We all have those moments when we feel unworthy or unlovable. Maybe it’s because of past failures, hurtful relationships, or the weight of our own shortcomings. This passage reminds us that God’s love is unconditional. He welcomes us with open arms, no matter what.

2. Surrendering to a Bigger Plan

Jesus says he came to do his Father’s will, not his own. It’s a powerful example of surrender and trust. It’s like a musician playing a beautiful symphony, following the conductor’s lead to create something harmonious and meaningful.

  • We often struggle with wanting to be in control, to make our own plans and follow our own desires. But Jesus shows us that true fulfillment comes from aligning our lives with God’s will. It’s about trusting that He has a bigger plan, even when we don’t understand it.

3. Held Securely

Jesus promises that God won’t lose any of those who are given to him. It’s a comforting image of being held securely in God’s loving hands. No matter what storms we face, we can rest assured that He won’t let us go.

  • Think about a time when you’ve felt lost, afraid, or uncertain about the future. Maybe it was a health scare, a financial crisis, or a relationship that fell apart. This passage reminds us that God is our refuge, our strength, and our ever-present help in times of trouble.

4. The Promise of Forever

Jesus promises eternal life to all who believe in him. It’s not just about escaping hell; it’s about experiencing a life that’s full of joy, peace, and purpose, both now and forever.

  • Imagine a world where there’s no more pain, no more sorrow, and no more death. That’s the kind of future Jesus offers us. It’s a hope that sustains us through life’s challenges and gives us a reason to keep going, even when things get tough.

A Prayer for Trust and Hope:

God, thank you for your unwavering love and your promise of eternal life. Help us to trust in your plan, to surrender our will to yours, and to find peace in your presence. May our lives reflect your love and grace, and may we share the hope of your promises with those around us. Amen.

Remember: You are loved, you are safe, and you have a purpose. Embrace God’s invitation to come as you are, and experience the fullness of life He offers.

May God bless you as you share His love, and may His love guide you in every step you take.

Amen.
